Policies
We ask that you read our policies before booking. By making an appointment, you confirm your agreement with our terms.
If you have booked your pet in for the wrong type of appointment, for example, you booked in the wrong breed type or you booked in a puppy groom instead of a full groom, you will be charged for the correct appointment, or you may be asked to come back when we have the time to complete the correct type of groom and will forfeit your current deposit.
Please check your dog for fleas before your appointment. If we discover fleas on your dog during their grooming session, a fee of £20.00 will be added to your full appointment cost. This is to allow us time to clean down the affected area and equipment, which may result in the delay or cancellation of other appointments.
The safety and welfare of every dog, client, student and member of staff is our highest priority. We reserve the right to stop or refuse a groom at any stage if a dog is deemed aggressive, dangerous, or excessively stressed, and if continuing would compromise welfare or safety. In such cases, the full grooming fee may still apply. Where a dog’s behaviour significantly impacts the grooming process — including excessive movement, aggression, anxiety, or handling difficulties — resulting in extended appointment time or requiring the assistance of an additional groomer, an additional handling charge of £10–£20 will apply, depending on the level of support needed.
Once you have been notified of your collection time, you will need to collect them within 20 minutes. Failure to arrive on time will result in a £10.00 late collection fee. There will be an additional £10.00 charge for every 20 minutes after this.
If we discover your dog(s) have matting, we have a strict policy, due to the Animal Welfare Act 2006, to act in your dog's best interest. If localised matting is found, a £10.00 charge is applied for the additional time spent. If heavy matting is found, a £20.00 charge is added to your groom. If the groomer determines the coat condition is inadequate for the grooming appointment, you may be asked to reschedule with additional time, and an extra charge may apply. Our groomers also reserve the right to take appropriate action to relieve the dog of discomfort; this sometimes results in the coat being shaved short.
Certain breeds have a thick double coat that requires special maintenance. Liverpool Dog Grooming Academy CIC has a strict policy of not shaving double-coated breeds due to the problems this can cause.
If you do not inform us of your absence within 2 hours of your appointment, you will lose your deposit, and you may be blocked from booking online and required to pay in full for our services in the future.
